New Bowling Ball Releases

There are several bowling ball companies that come out with multiple new bowling balls throughout the year. These are the SPI (Storm Products Incorporated) brands which include Storm, Roto Grip, and 900 Global, and  the Brunswick brands which include Brunswick, Columbia 300, DV8, Ebonite, Hammer, Radical, and Track. These companies have been busy at work this month, as usual, releasing new bowling balls. In this blog, I will highlight a couple of these releases.  SPI (Storm Products Incorporated) brands: For me, the brands of Storm have always been my go to when it comes time for a new bowling ball. My first "hook" ball was a Storm Tropical Surge, and every ball I have owned since has been either Storm or Roto Grip. I am not against any of the other brands, and I am considering trying out a new company for my next ball, but I have found with most bowlers that they just kind of grow a loyalty to the brand they start out with. The cool thing about Storm balls in particular is

Meet My Favorite PBA Pros

There are several professional bowlers that I am a fan of, and some I even look to to help improve my own game. This blog will be dedicated to the two in the PBA that I find myself pulling for no matter who they are bowling against: Brad Miller and Kyle Sherman.  Brad and Kyle run a YouTube Channel where they create vlogs that show their journey in all the PBA tournaments, instructional videos, and bowling ball reviews. I mentioned in my last blog that Packy Hanrahan has a YouTube channel that is similar called The House Bowling. This was actually originally Brad and Kyle's second channel, but for an unknown reason, "The House" or the group of guys that used to stay together during the tour season while they were travelling from tournament to tournament, sort of dispersed and Packy took the channel over. Since Brad and Kyle started their channel in 2017, they have created almost 600 videos that have helped them generate over 150,000 subscribers and over 39,000,000 views

This Week in Bowling (March 19, 2023- March 26, 2023)

This has been a busy week in the bowling world. From the PBA Kokomo Classic, the PWBA Greater Detroit Regional, the PBA Junior National Championships, and the Lumberton USBC City Tournament on the home front, bowlers of all skill levels have been busy fighting their way to the top. In this blog, I will be highlighting each of these events individually. The PBA Kokomo Classic  ran from Tuesday, March 21, 2023, to Friday, March 24, 2023. As it is with any Professional Bowler's Association tournament, during the Kokomo Classic, some of the best bowlers in the world battled it out to bring home a National Tour Title and the prize money. For this particular tournament, the first place winner earned $25,000. For this season, this is an average payout for a National Tour Title, while winning a major title earns you $100,000. The tournament started out with a field of 64 bowlers who bowled three six game rounds of qualifying. After these rounds of qualifying, the field was cut to 24 who

Introduction

Hey, y'all! My name is Kayley Johnson. I am a Sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and I love to bowl. I have bowled competitively since I was 10 years old, and it is something that runs in my family.  Both of my great grandmothers, my great great aunt, and my grandfather all have a history of bowling, and they were really good at it too. My great uncle, who has bowled in professional tournaments, owns the bowling alley in Lumberton, NC, where I am from, and my mom and her sisters grew up bowling kind of like I have. Throughout my almost 10 years bowling, I have had the chance to bowl in several tournaments throughout North and South Carolina and meet and even bowl alongside some of my favorite professional bowlers.  My hope with this blog is that I can share some of the love and joy I get from the sport through sharing all that is happening in the bowling world. I will be highlighting some of my own bowling endeavors, along with what is happening in the Prof
