New Bowling Ball Releases

There are several bowling ball companies that come out with multiple new bowling balls throughout the year. These are the SPI (Storm Products Incorporated) brands which include Storm, Roto Grip, and 900 Global, and  the Brunswick brands which include Brunswick, Columbia 300, DV8, Ebonite, Hammer, Radical, and Track. These companies have been busy at work this month, as usual, releasing new bowling balls. In this blog, I will highlight a couple of these releases.

SPI (Storm Products Incorporated) brands:

For me, the brands of Storm have always been my go to when it comes time for a new bowling ball. My first "hook" ball was a Storm Tropical Surge, and every ball I have owned since has been either Storm or Roto Grip. I am not against any of the other brands, and I am considering trying out a new company for my next ball, but I have found with most bowlers that they just kind of grow a loyalty to the brand they start out with. The cool thing about Storm balls in particular is that they each have their own smell. For example, I got a Storm Revenant not too long ago that smells like bear claws, and my friend recently got a Storm Phase 5 that smells like blueberries. Storm also creates bowling accessories such as rosin bags and ball cleaner spray that smell good, too. Storm's most recent bowling ball release is an addition to the IQ line of bowling balls called the IQ Tour Ruby. The IQ tour series of balls have had a lot of success in the bowling world, and they are even used a lot on the pro tours. The IQ Tour Ruby, releases on March 17,2023, was created for medium oil conditions, and it smells like Berry Splash.

Brunswick Brands:

Several of the Brunswick brands released balls in March or are planning to release them later in April. As I have mentioned, I have not bowled with any of theses ball brands, but I know people who have had great success with them, and some of the best professional bowlers are sponsored by them. I will be highlighting two of these new and upcoming releases in this blog. These will be the Brunswick Mindset and the DV8 Trouble Maker.

The Brunswick Mindset was released on March 23,2020. The ball is one of the brand's strongest, meaning that it will hook a lot and be best on heavy oil conditions.

The DV8 Trouble Maker is set to be released on April, 20,2023. It is the first ball that is designed specifically for two handed bowlers, though all bowlers can use it. The ball will be a stronger ball, meaning it will hook a lot and will do best on medium-heavy oil conditions.

  1. Hey Kaylee, I guess my first question would be, what does bear claws smell like? Lol. I've bowled like once or twice in my life and I had zero idea that there were different brands of balls and I would have NEVER guessed that they had unique smells to them. Blueberry? WOW! I would literally put it up to my face before throwing it.. every time!! Haha.

  2. Hey Kaylee, I've bowled a lot with friends but I never knew there was specific brands of bowling balls and they had the possibility to be scented! That is so crazy! I thought bowling balls were all made by the same manufacturer, guess I was wrong lol.

Meet My Favorite PBA Pros

There are several professional bowlers that I am a fan of, and some I even look to to help improve my own game. This blog will be dedicated to the two in the PBA that I find myself pulling for no matter who they are bowling against: Brad Miller and Kyle Sherman.  Brad and Kyle run a YouTube Channel where they create vlogs that show their journey in all the PBA tournaments, instructional videos, and bowling ball reviews. I mentioned in my last blog that Packy Hanrahan has a YouTube channel that is similar called The House Bowling. This was actually originally Brad and Kyle's second channel, but for an unknown reason, "The House" or the group of guys that used to stay together during the tour season while they were travelling from tournament to tournament, sort of dispersed and Packy took the channel over. Since Brad and Kyle started their channel in 2017, they have created almost 600 videos that have helped them generate over 150,000 subscribers and over 39,000,000 views
